Westcott Vineyards

Story

Westcott Vineyards was born from a bold decision to leave behind corporate life and build something lasting, rooted in land, family, and craft. In 2008, Carolyn Hurst and Grant Westcott traded their business suits for muddy boots, leaving Toronto with their young family to begin a new life in Niagara’s wine country. What started as a leap of faith quickly became a lifelong pursuit: to grow and craft exceptional cool-climate wines from the ground up. In 2012, they produced their first vintage in a humble “garagiste” style, crafting wine in their equipment barn while building toward something greater.

That same commitment to authenticity and patience shaped every step forward. A reclaimed 200-year-old timber frame barn was transformed into the heart of the winery, and by 2014, Westcott Vineyards opened its doors, welcoming guests into a space that feels both heritage-rich and deeply personal. Their son joined the vineyard team, and their daughter helped shape the guest experience, making Westcott not just a winery, but a family enterprise in every sense.

As the winery grew, so did its ambition. The arrival of winemaker Casey Kulczyk in 2018 brought world-class experience and precision to the cellar, elevating the expression of Niagara’s cool-climate terroir. That same year, Westcott Vineyards acquired Butler’s Grant Vineyard on the Twenty Mile Bench—expanding their portfolio to include expressive Riesling and Cabernet Franc, and further deepening their commitment to site-driven winemaking.

Today, Westcott Vineyards is known for small-lot, terroir-driven wines that reflect place, patience, and precision. Every grape is hand-harvested. Every block is farmed with intention. Every bottle tells the story of its vineyard.

Our Philosophy

The Land Comes First, We farm each site according to what it needs, and we let the wine reflect where it comes from. This is to ensure our practices match the ambition of the land.

Small is the Point, both sites are hand-harvested. We work in small lots, and track each block individually from vine to barrel. Quality always takes precedence over volume.

Patience Over Speed, Great wine cannot be rushed. From our earliest years growing grapes for others to today’s estate winemaking, patience has remained at the core of everything we do.
